A common question, the answer to which depends on where you are. "sea level" is indicated by a different number depending on where you are. Since altitude is mostly defined in relation to an abstract model of the earth, sea level rarely equates to altitude of zero.
BTW, when I say "no altitude", I mean "I don't know what the altitude is", not "this position has an altitude of sea level" for some definition of sea level.
