This is now formally known as "Parameter Conveyance Location Determination of Devices Attached to Access Networks" and has been formally approved for publication as ATIS document 0500015.
This is part of what goes on "behind the covers" in a LIS, the stuff that we don't deal with here in GEOPRIV. Things such as querying a NAS for the port of ingress or egress of a specific traffic flow. Things that don't enter the "user plane" of the network.
Part of this document, the Flexible LDF (Location Determination Function) - AMF (Access Measurement Function) Protocol, provides a framework for dealing with measurement acquisition within an access network.
Cheers,
Martin
p.s. It's a shame that this document is paywalled for non-members of ESIF; not all organizations apply openness principles in the way the IETF does. I'd be happy to provide an overview of the document for those who would like a little more detail.
